Silent Sun Necklace, worn

The beeswax bead is 20 mm across and does most of the talking. Beside it hang a gold-tone sun, 13 mm, with a chip of tiger's eye in the middle, a small aged brass tag and a carved bone leaf.

Everything else is cord, brown and cream braided together and left plain so the orange of the bead stands out. Beeswax picks up a softer shine the longer it is worn against skin.

Meaning

On the plateau, the sun is what everyone waits for after a long winter. Old beeswax is said to warm in color the longer it is worn, which is why families pass it on rather than put it away.
